Two magnificent horses for those serious about rocking horses, an exquisitely carved, 1880, 49" J&G Lines extra carved bow rocker (pictured prior to restoration) and an extremely rare, Top of the Range 'D' Quality F H Ayres, 53", (pictured during restoration) as featured in Patricia Mullins book on pages 68/69. F H Ayres - No 4 - C1900-1912

This lovely little Ayres is in amazing original condition, with replacement mane and tail. He has his original saddle, pommel and rosettes. He is 39/40" tall and has the retailers name stencilled on the stand, Burgis & Colbourne along with it's size No 4. It is extremely hard to find a 100+ year horse in such a wonderful, original condition. A true collector's horse. P.O.A ** SOLD **

G&J Lines Nursery Rocker C1913

G&J Lines Improved Safety Rocker with End Seats - C1913 - Standing at 44" tall, a very special horse. All original stand, brackets and irons with replacement ironwork and replica baskets. Restored in 2009 with new gesso, paint, hair and tack. Nursery Rockers with end seats do not turn up very often and are quite a rare find. 50" Extra Carved G&J Lines Improved Safety Rocking Horse No 21. A huge and impressive horse with removable saddle and tack. These horses were unusual because they did not have a saddleblock, much like the Sportiboys, although a much better carved and much rarer horse than the Sportiboy. Swan Manufacturing (Gamages) C1914-1917

Fully restored by David Kiss of the Rocking Horse Workshop UK in 1998, original stand, brackets, irons, stencilled name on stand, id number plate on stomach, some minor paint damage but overall condition excellent, very pretty 41" horse and a rare find. Retailed in its time by Gamages Department Stores. The manufacturing firm was also referred to as Simpson, Fawcett & Co. * * * S O L D * * *

1908 STAR MANUFACTURING CO. * Firm founded in 1887 to manufacture baby carriages and dolls prams. In 1908 they expanded their range to include rocking horses, swing horses, tricycles, toy motor cars and dolls houses. In 1915 their trademark ‘Swan’ was adopted. An immaculate horse in original condition with some minor cosmetic restoration by Jan Rusling of Rocking Horse Elite UK. Original stand, brackets and irons, all in excellent working order. Overall a substantial and stunning 52" horse. Very hard to find a horse of this age in this wonderful condition. Retailed in its time by Harrods, Selfridges and other premium department stores.
